William Zemp - Leading Organizational Transformation
William "Wil" Zemp is an experienced executive recognized for leading transformational initiatives across higher education, workforce development, technology, and national security. The career of Wil Zemp reflects a commitment to building organizations that prepare learners and professionals for the evolving demands of the global economy.
As Executive Director of Executive and Professional Education at The Citadel, Wil is responsible for establishing a new executive education enterprise, developing its strategic vision, creating its operating model, and expanding programs that serve executives and their teams across industries. Previously, at Educational Testing Service (ETS), he led the global higher education portfolio, overseeing business strategy, institutional partnerships, AI-enabled workforce solutions, and revenue growth. As Global Director of Education to Workforce at Amazon Web Services, he unified international education initiatives across more than 80 countries and helped scale programs that reached over one million learners while supporting Amazon's commitment to train millions in cloud computing skills. Wil also served as Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer at Southern New Hampshire University, where he directed innovation investments, institutional transformation, and campus operations, including guiding the university through the COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier, as President and CEO of Project Kitty Hawk, he built a statewide nonprofit that re-engaged adult learners and expanded workforce-focused education. Complementing his civilian accomplishments is a distinguished 25-year US Army career, during which he served as a colonel in senior national security, diplomatic, and NATO leadership roles before retiring from military service. His expertise continues to shape the future of education, workforce development, and responsible AI.
